Solar SP Spider Bivvy
Solar Tackle has earned its impressive reputation from the unbeatable quality and service that their products provide. Solar Tackle is one of the few carp companies to still manufacture in the UK so they are attuned to the complications that British anglers face on the bank. It is a brand that strives for perfection as Solar has been responsible for developing, launching and manufacturing some of carp fishing’s most ‘cult’ products. Their products range from baits to landing nets. Solar has all the essentials for a successful carping session.
Solar has tailored the design of this towards a traditional carp shelter. The Spider is able to utilise the Easy-Loc frame system for the legs of the frame to be adjusted, extended or compressed for incredibly quick set-up and pack down. You simply click in the yellow buttons on the legs of the frame and slide the poles up or down and the release or poles will click them in place.
There is a stainless steel block system that can be used for quick but solid set up. The exterior of the frame is made extra stale against extreme weather conditions because of the storm rod and these can also be retained using the Velcro rod straps.
The bivvy comes supplied with heavy duty t-pegs perfect for securing the bivvy down with the adjustable pegging points. This makes the bivvy tailorable and perfect for all kinds of swims, choosing the tensions of the pegging points depending on the level of the terrain.
The doors of the shelter will self-close behind you by using a mag-loc. Along with the mozzi-mesh door system, bugs will be the least of your concerns whilst by the bank. The doors can easily be pulled apart using the handles, separating the magnets which then clip back together immediately behind you. There are also multiple door options, whether you used the opaque green door to block out all light, the clear plastic door to keep out the rain but let in the light or mozzi mesh doors. Alternatively, you can take the doors off completely or have more than one of and go letterbox style with the opaque sheet half up.
The bivvy has full, zip-in, rip-stop groundsheets to protect your flooring as well as the material of the bivvy being made of a high spec, solartex plus, coated and breathable fabric. Ideal in both rain or sun, keeping you both dry and cool. There is also a peaked front for the rain will not be making its way into the entrance of the bivvy, across the short or long sessions.
The shelter is based on the square footprint of the SP Quick Up, delivering a spacious, easily organised environment. With the dimensions of 280cm x 190cm x 130cm, this provides plenty of internal space for your luggage and bedchair. Nonetheless, the bivvy is incredibly small and lightweight (15kg) despite the amount of space the bivvy offers.
The side of the bivvy features PermaVent air-flow system which is essentially a window that can be accessed by rolling up the windows cover using the retainer clips. The window is made of a mesh that lets the breeze and light it whilst keeping the bugs out. And if it is raining you can use the window cover to either close the window or let in some of the light and breeze my pegging the cover at an angle. This lets the rain dip down the cover onto the floor rather through the mesh window and into your bivvy. This creates a permanent airflow system to your bivvy, good for letting out some cooking steam when frying some bacon for a lunchtime sandwich.
So consider this quick set up, durable, highly adept bivvy, look no further than the SP Spider.
