Grands Prés in Grand Est
Grands Prés is located in the beautiful Champagne region, within comfortable travel distance of Calais. This 35 acres lake in the northeast of France offers all the ingredients for a beautiful carp fishing holiday. It is a challenging fish stock with very healthy carp with weights of over 65lb and a high average population weight. Many of our guests have broken their personal records here!
We estimate the fish population to be 500 carp with numerous 45-55lb and above carp. The current lake record weighs 67lb and is a beautiful wide-built mirror carp. Most of the heavy fish in Grand Prés are mirror carp, but there are also some heavy common carp swimming around. In addition to the carp stock, there are also sturgeons and catfish, which keeps the fishing varied. La Carrière des Grands Prés is not an easy lake and you have to work hard for every catch. We recommend that you search for the hotspots, think about your tactic, and use a high-quality bait. This lake is best suited to the more advanced carp angler.
In November 2016, 39 common and mirror carp weighing between 12-26lb were introduced to the lake to ensure the continuous uniqueness of the lake’s fish stock. In winter 2017/2018, 85 grass carp were released into the lake to manage weed growth but it is still recommended that you bring a rubber boat to drive out the lines and to drill. At the same time that the grass carp were introduced, 80 small carp weighing up to 30lb were also introduced to the lake, and 14 more carp weighing 22-30lb were introduced in the winter of 2018/2019. In the winter of 2019/2020 7 sturgeon from 23 – 35lb and 11 carp from 24- 37lb were introduced. In the winter of 2020/2021 another 26 carp of 12-20lb were stocked. In the winter of 2021/2022 18 carp from 20-38lb, of which some very beautifully scaled mirror carp.
