- Profile
The two lakes which make up Jubilee Pools lie just outside Coventry at Ryton on Dunsmore. The larger of the two lakes is the Island Pool which has over 40 pegs including special pegs for disabled anglers. Big water, big fish. Mirrors and commons over 30 lbs plus plenty of doubles and twenties. Specimen bream and tench accompany the carp. In recent years, Jubilee has developed a reputation as one of the premier bream waters in the Midlands (see Darren Cox in the video above) and there are perch, crucians and big shoals of roach. All types of bait can score with sweetcorn, maggots and soft pellets top of the list. Ground bait is allowed in moderation. Wind direction can help with fish location. Fishing into the wind often works well.
You will notice the superb condition of the fish at Jubilee, largely due to the care and attention of bailiffs Neil and Ros Hubbard who manage the fishery and its excellent facilities. They can offer information on the best pegs and methods. With more big fish being caught at Jubilee, it is important to equip yourself properly with a decent sized landing net and unhooking mat. If you are using bite alarms, bear in mind that the other anglers around you do not want to hear constant beeping, so your only excuse for a noise is a fish! If you intend photographing your catch, prepare your camera set up well in advance so that the fish is out of the water for the minimum time. - Photos
