Melon

Melon is an extremely popular juicy fruit that is often enjoyed the world over. The large yellow or green hard skin fruit is packed full of juicy and fleshy fruit inside that has become a firm favourite with fruit lovers everywhere. It comes in either Honeydew (yellow) or watermelon (green) types with each one packed full of goodness. Originating in South West Africa and India, the melon has been dated back over 1500 years ago and was common in the times of the Ancient Romans. Since then it has spread all over the world including Europe. China is one of the biggest cultivators of Melon at over 45% of the total grown as of last year. Melon is a very popular fruit in both its raw form and in desserts due to its sweet flavour. It isn’t just limited to desserts either, with many Asian originating dishes using melon as part of a more savoury, or spicy dish.
